Murder Suspect In Custody After Thompson Homicide

At approximately 3:04 AM, a 911 call came into Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communication from a 55 year old female whose name has not been released. She was reporting that a 61 year old male was stabbed in the chest by a family member who is identified as 28 year old Kyle Carpenter. The call was transferred to Connecticut State Police Troop D in Danielson. When Troopers arrived in scene, they located Carpenter leaving the house and he was immediately detained.
Troopers entered the home and located the 55 year old woman who called 911, and was also suffering from non life threatening stab wounds, as medical services were requested to the residence. The 61 year old male was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Eastern District Major Crime Squad was called and assumed the investigation.
Carpenter was taken into custody and charged with 1st degree murder and 2nd degree assault. Carpenter was detained on $1,000,000 bond and presented in Danielson Superior Court on Wednesday morning. State Police say that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
