On Saturday, October 14, 2017 at approximately 8:41 A.M., the Plainfield Police Department received a 911 call reporting a one car motor vehicle crash on Plainfield Road, with injuries.
Upon arrival the Officers found a 2013 Buick LaCrosse registered to Joseph Lombardy of Moosup, off the roadway just east of the 395 over pass. The vehicle was being operated by 29 year old Samantha Gooslin of Moosup, who said she had fallen asleep. The vehicle had exited the south side of the roadway, cleared a drainage culvert, and was stuck on the concrete culvert.
Gooslin who was complaining of leg pain had to be assisted out by members of the Central Village Fire Department and American Legion Ambulance. Gooslin was then transported to the Backus Emergency Department in Plainfield, which happened to be where she was headed, to pick up the registered owner of the vehicle, Joseph Lombardy. Lombardy was also in the news last week after he was arrested by Troopers, along with K9 Ambrie, a narcotic detecting Labrador, after locating (12) bags of crack cocaine (8 grams) pre-packaged for sale in the vehicle.
The vehicle was removed by CDLS Towing out of Commercial Avenue, Plainfield.
The crash remains under investigation.
