Moosup Woman Arrested After Making Racial Slur and Threats

On June 2, 2020, the Norwich Police Department Patrol and Detective Division received a walk-in complaint from a female victim. The victim claimed she was intimidated based on her African-American heritage. During an incident at the Starbucks Business drive through (located at 88 Salem Turnpike Norwich) she was verbally threatened and the recipient of a racial slur. The victim captured this incident on “Facebook Live.”
After conducting a thorough investigation led by Detective Chris Hawrylik and Officer Thomas Lawton, the accused was identified and located. 22 year old Holly Chalifoux of Moosup was interviewed. Ultimately the accused provided a voluntary signed sworn statement. In that statement Chalifoux admitted that she both verbally threatened and shouted a racially motivated slur at the victim.
The Norwich Police Detective Division arrested the Moosup woman in regard to this incident and was charged with 3rd degree Intimidation based on bigotry or Bias. Chalifoux was released on $25,000 bond and will be in Norwich Superior Court on July, 30, 2020
