On January 24, 2020 at approximately 8:58 P.M., an officer of the Plainfield Police Department was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Lake Street and North Main Street in the Moosup village of Plainfield when they observed a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) traveling westbound on North Main Street. When the officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle, the operator attempted to elude the officer by traveling down multiple side streets at a high rate of speed.
The officer subsequently located the vehicle on Victoria Drive at which point it was determined that the vehicle was involved in a single motor vehicle collision. Through investigation, it was determined that the operator, 41 year old Troy Shaw of Moosup, was traveling northbound on Lake Street before crossing over a lawn and onto Victoria Drive causing the vehicle to overturn.
Troy Shaw was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs, Reckless Driving, Engaging Police in a Pursuit, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Insufficient Insurance. Shaw was later released on a $500.00 bond and scheduled to appear at the State of Connecticut Superior Court in Danielson, on February 10, 2020.
