Man Takes Off After Traffic Stop and Jumps Off a Bridge In Attempts To Flee

Montville Police has been able to locate 45 year old Todd Raymond after a tip in the Town of Groton. Raymond was apprehended and brought to a correctional facility and was charged with violation of probation as well as 2 counts of assault on a police officer, criminal impersonation, and others. Raymond was held on a combined $75,000 bond and will face these charges in Norwich Superior Court.
At about 8:30 on March 14, 2020, the Montville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on the New London Turnpike, Route 32. The male driver, later identified as 45-year-old Todd Raymond, provided a false name. As the Officers attempted to gather more information from Raymond, he fled from the traffic stop in his vehicle, dragging two Montville Police Officers with him.
Troopers from State Police Troop E were notified and responded to the area of the original traffic stop. The vehicle was located abandoned at a Norwich address. While canvassing the area, Raymond was located walking on the Mohegan-Pequot Bridge (Route 2A). Raymond jumped off of the bridge and landed on the ground near a set of railroad tracks. Troopers and Officers conducted a K9 track which led to the vicinity of the Mohegan Sun Casino. In addition to the crimes committed during the traffic stop, Raymond has an additional Violation of Probation warrant.
