Man Steals Unattended Car At Plainfield Gas Station

On March 21, 2018, at approximately 10:35 p.m., members of the Plainfield Police Department responded to the Sunoco Gas Station located at 704 Norwich Road, Plainfield, Connecticut for a report of a stolen motor vehicle.
After reviewing surveillance footage of the incident, Officers observed the victim pull up to the gas pumps and leave her unsecured car with the keys inside the vehicle before entering the store. A white male walked across the street from the area of the Pit Stop Spirit Shop and entered the store. After making a small purchase, the white male exited the store and looked over his shoulder before taking the victim’s vehicle traveling southbound on Norwich Road.
On March 22, 2018, at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of the Plainfield Police Department were able to recover the stolen motor vehicle from the Sunoco Gas Station. The vehicle was recovered in the area of Bennet Street and Douglas Street.
The suspect is described as a heavier set middle aged white male with brownish hair. The suspect was wearing dark sunglasses, a blue and white sweater and blue jeans. It is believed that he either lives or frequents the residential community behind the Pit Stop Spirit Shop.
