Man Driving Truck Hits Stopped SUV While Stopped at Railroad Crossing

On Wednesday at approximately 9:47 p.m., members of the Plainfield Police Department, Plainfield Fire Department, and American Legion Ambulance responded to a reported two car motor vehicle crash that had occurred in the area of Railroad Ave and First Street in Plainfield, Connecticut.

Upon arrival it was determined by officers on scene that 62 year old William J. Shostak  was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Railroad Avenue when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox operated by 44 year old Jennifer Hildebrand. The vehicle Hildebrand was operating was stopped at a railroad crossing on Railroad Avenue just near the intersection of First Street.

Hildebrand was transported by the American Legion Ambulance to the Plainfield Backus Emergency Department for treatment of possible injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
