Local Man Arrested For DUI After Hitting Utility Pole In Plainfield

On July 19, 2017 at approximately 1:25 AM members of the Plainfield Police Department, Plainfield Fire Department, and American Legion Ambulance responded to a one car motor vehicle crash which occurred on Kate Downing Road in Plainfield.

Upon arrival it was determined by officers on scene that 29 year old Ryan J. Blake was operating a 2006 Volvo S60 eastbound on Kate Downing Road when he failed to maintain his proper lane, consequently causing the vehicle to go off the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole. While investigating the scene there was a small amount of Marijuana located in plain view within the vehicle. Blake was carrying one passenger, 29 year old Gary A. Topping who was transported to the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT for possible injuries. Blake Refused medical treatment at the scene. Blake Was later placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs, Possession of Marijuana and Failure to Maintain Proper Lane. The vehicle was subsequently removed from the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
