On January 19, 2021, Ledyard Police stopped a vehicle on Center Groton Rd in Ledyard with what seemed would be a routine speeding violation. When the officer approached the car the smell of marijuana was coming from it. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officer found marijuana and marijuana baked brownies that were individually wrapped for sale, as well as other paraphernalia. The driver of the car, 19 year old Cade Walters of Ledyard did admit that there were his items.
Walters was detained and processed, then released on a $500 non-surety bond after being charged with Possession of marijuana with intent to sell and Possession of drug paraphernalia and is to appear in New London Superior Court on February 24, 2021.
