Connecticut’s judicial branch announced Thursday they have begun delivering an additional 113 pink slips to workers, bringing the total layoffs for the Connecticut Judicial system to 239. This second round of layoffs may not be the last, as the final total of laid off workers will not be determined until the Connecticut General Assembly adopts a new budget for the new fiscal year, which is slated to begin on July 1.
Connecticut’s projected budget deficit now stands at $960 million. Legislators plan to hold a special legislative session next week in order to vote on a $19.7 billion budget deal.
The notices issued Thursday affect jobs ranging from adult and juvenile probation officers to caseflow coordinators and family relations counselors.
