The Griswold Wolverines girls’ basketball team played their final game of the season on Friday night. They faced the Wheeler Lions. It was Senior night for the Wolverines, who had two seniors. Emma Dembinski and Bethany Ladd were honored in a pre-game ceremony for their contribution to the team. Griswold took the early lead of 7-5 after one quarter. The Lions took their first, and only lead of the game, when Molly Butremovic scored three points in the quarter. Bethany Ladd was a force on defense, with five rebounds in the first half. Griswold lead 13-10 going into halftime and they had no intention to let go of the lead. Dani Krapf made a three-pointer from the top of the key to begin the third quarter. Krapf made another three-pointer later in the quarter, giving her six points for the game. The Wolverines lead 27-16 after three quarters. The Lions attempted to come back in the fourth quarter with Annie Dussault scoring four points. With less than two minutes left in the game, Bethany Ladd fouled out. She left the court to a standing ovation from the crowd. She finished the night with six points, and nine rebounds. When Emma Dembinski exited the court for the final time in her high school career, she finished the night with two points and four rebounds. She too left to a standing ovation.
Griswold went on to win the game 30-22. That was their final home game of the season until the ECC tournament begins. The date and time for that game has not been announced yet.
