The Griswold girls’ basketball team was looking to snap a four game losing streak Monday night. Parish Hill started off strong, scoring 17 points in the first quarter. Griswold trailed the Pirates 17-3 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Wolverines gave up 17 more points to the Pirates and trailed 34-13 going into halftime. In the third quarter, the Wolverines scored the same amount of points that the pirates did. Both teams scored 19 in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, both teams scored 11 points. The Wolverines lost despite great outings by Emma Dembinski, who scored 14 points, and Mandy Brehler who scored 15. Samantha Falco scored nine points, including the team’s only three-pointer. Dani Krapf, and Bella Rubino played, but were not able to get on the scoreboard. The Pirates were led by Maria Tomas, who scored 28 points. Kaysi Dupuis scored 20 points. Hannah Vieira scored 13 points. The Pirates defeated the Wolverines 64 to 46. The next game for Griswold will be Thursday, February 2, when they meet Windham Tech.
