Lady Wolverines Fall To St. Joe’s in CIAC Softball State Tourney Quarterfinals 7-0

ct-ctgriswoldhighschool-letter-150Wolverines scattered four hits on Thursday, but weren’t able to push enough runs across, and lost 7-0 to St. Joseph’s at Trumbull ct.

Nicole Williams recorded the win for St. Joseph’s. She tossed seven innings of shutout ball. Williams struck out eight, walked one and gave up four hits.

St. Joseph’s was sparked by Hannah Hutchinson and Williams, who teamed up for five hits and four RBIs.

Maya Waldron couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Wolverines, taking a loss. She allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.  Shyla Krick came in for the last 1 2/3 innings and didn’t give up a run to stop St. Joseph’s from scoring more.  The Wolverines did start a rally in the 7th getting runners to 2nd and 3rd but couldn’t get a run across the #1 ranked team in the class M division

St. Joseph’s never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring three runs on a sacrifice fly by Kayla Giacobbe and two singles.
