Lady Wolverines Come Alive in Second Half, Lose to Clippers

The Griswold Wolverines girls’ basketball team took on the Putnam Clippers on Thursday night. Griswold was held scoreless in the first quarter. The Clippers led by thirteen points to begin the second quarter. Griswold got on the scoreboard in the second quarter when Emma Dembinski hit a two-point jumper. Sam Falco hit a three- pointer as time expired in the half. Griswold trailed 23-9 at halftime. The Wolverines turned up the heat in the third quarter, with five different players scoring. Griswold held the Clippers to only five points in that quarter. The Wolverines closed the gap, but still trailed 28-19. Bella Rubino closed the deficit to six points to begin the fourth quarter. The Clippers quickly erased the gain the Wolverines had made. Freshman, Abby St. Martin, scored five points in the fourth quarter. That helped propel the Clippers to defeat the Wolverines 42-25. The next game for the Lady Wolverines is tomorrow against Wheeler. Wolverine Radio will have a live broadcast for tomorrow’s game.
