In Girls Varsity Basketball, the Plainfield Panthers came to play. They took control of the lead from the get-go and maintained it throughout the game. Madison Kelley started the night with the game’s first score on a lay-up and never looked back. Kelley took control of the game from start to finish, putting up seven of Plainfield’s 13 points in the first quarter, compared to Griswold’s six points. The second quarter was similar to the first. Kelley put up ten of the team’s 20 points. But the play of the game occurred just before halftime. Sophmore J’Kyrah Johnson of Plainfield collected her own rebound after a missed layup and put the rebound in for two. After halftime, Briana Dion had the most points in the third quarter, putting up five, including a three pointer from the corner. By the start of the fourth quarter, the Panthers continued to dominate with a 42 to 8 lead on their way to victory. Toward the end of the fourth quarter, the highlight play for the Wolverines came from Samantha Falco, who nailed a 3 pointer with nothing but net to get her team to 11 points. Emma Dembinski led the Wolverines in scoring with six points on the night. The final score was 49 to 13. The next game for the lady Wolverines will be Wednesday, December, 27, when they take on the Portland Highlanders. And the next game for the lady Panthers will also be on Wednesday as they take on the Old Saybrook Rams.
