Killingly residents will go to the polls on Tuesday to decide whether or not to approve the proposed 2016-17 general government and Board of Education budgets which represent a zero mill-rate increase.
Killingly recently amended the $14.65 million general government spending plan to adjust for the fluctuating state figures. The town council reduced an employee post-benefit line item, used to pay retirees health benefits, from $50,000 to $10,000.
The proposed school budget was reduced by $15,800, but no decision has been made on what will be affected by this cut.
Voting is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at two polling places. Districts 1, 3 and 5 will vote at the school district’s central office building at 79 Westfield Ave. Districts 2 and 4 will vote at Killingly High School.
