Friday night a Jewett City Man, 52 year old Michael Daley, was driving in an erratic fashion on I395 south as he was coming up on the Moosup exit. A Trooper from Troop D in Danielson observed the operation and attempted to stop the car. Daley ignored the lights and signals from the Trooper to pull over and even reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.
During the chase, Daley was throwing items out of the car that were later recovered by State Police. The items that were thrown were Narcotics. Finally, Daley pulled over at exit 29 in Plainfield where he failed a field sobriety test and admitted that he had consumed alcohol earlier in the evening.
Daley was taken into custody and was charged with operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, disobeying the signal of a police officer, illegal possession of Narcotics, reckless driving, and failure to drive in the proper lane. Daley was held on $5000 bond and due in Danielson Superior Court on November 9th.
