Investigation Ongoing Pertaining to Sunday’s Brooklyn House Fire

Brooklyn, CT (June 23, 2019): On Sunday, June 23, 2019 at approximately 10:40 a.m., Troopers from Troop D-Danielson responded to a report of a structure fire in the area of 671 Wauregan Road in the town of Brooklyn, Connecticut. State Police-Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU) was requested to respond to the scene to assist local fire marshals with determining the cause and origin of the fire. During the course of this incident, investigators were able to locate a deceased individual within the structure. As a result, the Medical Examiner’s Office was requested to respond to the scene to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The identity of the deceased will be provided pending the notification of the next of kin and completion of the Medical Examiner’s autopsy. Detectives from the Connecticut State Police-Eastern District Major Crimes Squad responded to the scene and will also assist in the investigation.
