Back in January, the legislative session began for the state of Connecticut. On the table for discussion right away was a proposed, third casino for the state. Months later, on the day the session concludes, lawmakers have less than 24 hours to make a decision.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 7th, the House of Representatives voted 103-46 in favor of the bill. However, this is not the end. The bill has been sent to the Senate for discussion.
The casino, which is part of a collaborative effort between the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes, requires the Senate’s approval in order to be built. If the bill is passed and the casino is authorized, it will be built in East Windsor on the site where Showcase Cinemas once stood.
Wolverine Radio will report the results of the Senate’s discussion and any action.
