On Thursday, Connecticut State Troopers from troop D in Danielson attempted to stop a 2016 White Chevy Impala just north of the Plainfield town line. Troopers again tried to stop the car at the Killingly town line and the vehicle again refused to stop. The pursuit continued to Route 6 into Brooklyn where Troopers attempted to box the car in. The vehicle then swerved right and struck several mailboxes and then intentionally left striking the passenger side of a State Police Cruiser. As a result of this, the cruiser struck a tree head on. The impala drove off the road and struck a stone wall in the area of Laurel Hill and Route 6 in Brooklyn. Troopers quickly apprehended 18 yr old Chad Barrett and 19 year old Nathan Cordell. The Trooper that was involved in the collision was transported to Backus urgent Care and was treated and released with minor injuries. Barrett declined medical attention and Cordell was transported to Day Kimball for minor injuries and released. After an investigation, it was determined that the impala was a stolen vehicle. Barrett was charged with a total of 16 charges including First degree larceny and held on a $50,000 bond. Nathan Cordell, formerly of Jewett City was charged with interfering with an officer and held on a $5000 bond. Both Barrett and Cordell are expected in Danielson Superior Court on April 4th.
