SNSN was live at Killingly High School to call the game between the Plainfield Panthers and Killingly.  No, Killingly still doesn’t have a mascot since the Red Hawk Name was revoked, after they changed to the Red Hawks from revoking the Redman name.

This was a very physical game, and at some points looked like a matchup with rock’em sock’em robots.  Especially after the stiff shot Bryce Carchidi delivered to the games high scorer, Killingly’s Shane Bigelow (21 pts).  Carchidi was then ejected from the game at that point. Killingly wins this one at home, 56-43.  Killingly evens up their record at 2-2 and Plainfield drops to 1-2 on the young season.  This has our vote for fun game to watch of the year so far.  Fans from both Killingly and Plainfield were vocal cheering on their teams, with all players seemingly leaving it all on the court.

Next up for Killingly is Putnam on Monday night, Plainfield travels to Wheeler for a Saturday evening game.

Griswold (3-1)  traveled to Windham (0-5) looking for a rare basketball victory in Windham against the Whippets.  Griswold got out of the box fast and led 25-20 after the first. CJ Mattson sank 10 of his 17 points in the first alone.  Windham cut the score by a bucket at the half with Griswold still leading 39-36.  Wolverines pulled away a little in the 4th, but ended up with an 8 point victory, 81-73, 4 players in double figures.  Chris Roddy had a Wolverine high 20 points, CJ Mattson with 17, Anthony Franklin with 14, Pharaoh added 12, while Mike Sims and Andrew Koziol had 7 each.

Next up for Griswold is Tourtellotte on Saturday afternoon and Windham heads out to Montville, also on Saturday afternoon.

Next High School Basketball game on SNSN is this coming Monday evening, January 7, 2020 when the (Boys) Plainfield Panthers come into “The Den” at Griswold High to face the Wolverines.  Air time is 6:50 PM.   Get the new app from Google Play and the Apple App store
