Gurnee Shines At The Plate State Playoff’s Opening Round Victory Over Cromwell

Kamryn Gurnee was in the zone on Wednesday, tallying four hits and leading Griswold to a 15-1 win over Cromwell. Gurnee singled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the fifth, and tripled in the sixth.
Griswold got things started in the first inning. Cheyenne Zvingilas singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Wolverines scored four runs in the fifth inning. Sarah Aviles, Julia Janca, and Sonja Matheson all drove in runs in the frame.
Julia Janca got the win for Griswold going seven innings, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out three.
Katie Snyder took the loss for Cromwell. She went six innings, allowing 15 runs on 16 hits and striking out two.
Griswold tallied 16 hits in the game. Gurnee, Aviles, Zvingilas, and Samantha Falco all managed multiple hits for The Wolverines. Gurnee led Griswold with four hits in five at bats.
Cromwell had seven hits in the game. Madisen Tessmer and Jennifer Masellio each racked up multiple hits for Cromwell. Tessmer went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Cromwell in hits.
