High School All State Athletes were announced by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association earlier this week, and some local athletes made the cut.
Griswold Sophomore Michael Strain was announced as part of the All State Cross Country team. According to coach Kelsey Nixon, “Michael Strain consistently finished as our first place runner on the team. Similarly, in meets, he was always competitive and often leading in the front of the pack which resulted in placing as a top finisher overall and earned him All State recognition for the 2020 season.
Griswold Senior Matt Ladd was also named All State out of Griswold for soccer. Griswold soccer coach Dave Johnson said “I’m very proud of Matthew over the last 4 years, he wanted the all state so bad and was happy when he finally got it. (I’m) really going to miss his passion and dedication to his self and team goals.
