Also at the latest meeting, the board discussed renaming the Griswold Senior Center.  The item was added to the Selectman’s agenda and held some discussion on the name change.  The change, which adds the word “community” to it sparked some discussion between Selectman Rich Grabowski and Senior Center Director Tina Faulk.

Faulk says that the “senior center” name is outdated and it is discussion that has come up with the Connecticut Association of Senior Center Personnel.

Selectman Grabowski asked that the word community implies that others, including seniors will be able to use the facility.  The following audio clip is his question as well as the Director’s response.

Faulk went on to say that there will be more focus on health and wellness of the senior community and the elderly.  These decisions were all made based on conversations with State Rep Brian Lanoue, Sen. Heather Somers, and other town leaders.
