Things are a little strange to say the least. But, with that, there are people and organizations that are working hard to help you get the most of every day within all the boredom and “spare time” you may have.
Miranda Mahoney of “Griswold Pride” is doing just that. She emails on a daily basis, giving you ideas of different activities that you can do by yourself or with your family. Today, is “take a hike Tuesday.”
“During this time, we want to continue our mission to create a healthy and drug free community. This is definitely a time of high stress, but we want to help families make the most out of it, with quality time during their quarantine. So we’re sharing different activities every day of the week, with different themes for each day. We started with Mealtime Monday and shared dinner conversation starters, and today we’re promoting Take a Hike Tuesday and shared a website for family friendly local hikes. It’s so important to remember the importance of mental health and self-care, while also taking time for your physical health. You can follow our Facebook page for additional ideas and activities and share your pictures in the comments of your family participating in our posted activities.”
Mahoney also says that it’s not just Griswold Pride, but a group of organizations. GASP coalition out of Groton, Montville Youth Services Bureau, Waterford Youth Services Bureau, Norwich Youth and Family Services, Ledyard Prevention Council, and East Lyme Prevention Council. We want to send a unified message from the prevention councils for each town.
