Griswold Man Sentenced to Prison

Brian Sylvestri, 28 years old, from Griswold, Ct., was sentenced Wednesday in New London Superior Court, to 18 months in prison. Sylvestri was convicted of molesting an 11-year-old girl during a two year period, during which time Sylvestri admitted to having “an inappropriate relationship with the girl. Sylvestri, who has been in prison since his arrest on May 29, 2015, agreed to a plea deal in which he pled guilty to risk of injury to a minor. The more serious charge of first-degree sexual assault was dropped.
The girls family discovered what was happening last Spring, and after an investigation, Sylvestri admitted to two years of inappropriate activity.
Sylvestri had no previous criminal record , and a permanent protective order banning him from having any kind of contact with the girl for the rest of his life was put in place.
Upon his release from prison, Sylvestri will be placed on probation with strict conditions which include, having no unsupervised contact with girls younger than 16 and having his residence approved by probation officers. He also will have to register on the state’s sex offender list for 10 years.
