We had the most beautiful weather to finally dedicate the 9/11 Memorial that the Enrichment Students created along with their advisors. As part of the Griswold Town 9/11 Committee I couldn’t have wished for a more perfect day. We had many special speakers, including Dan Holdridge a Pentagon Survivor and author of Pentagon Prayer and Dan D’Allara who lost his twin brother who was a Police Officer in the collapse of the towers and who is also a Victims Advocate traveling all over the country and to Guantanamo Bay seeking justice. With hurricane Dorian off the coast we weren’t sure what the weather was going to bring us, but the blue skies prevailed and the wind blew the glorious American Flag in its breeze. Each of the 11 students read a speech in front of the almost 200 guests in attendance. I couldn’t have been more proud of them all. After almost 4 years this Memorial has finally reached completion and will forever be a place of reflection, healing and remembrance. Never Forget 9/11.
***The students raised upwards of $20,000 to construct this amazing monument, on their own. Also please note that none of these students were even born yet when the 911 tragedy occurred.***
