Even though Griswold defeated Bacon Academy on 12/27, 57-51, all knew that this was going to be a dogfight from the opening tip since both teams are so evenly matched.  Pharaoh Curtis wanted to make sure that his team was going to be a little bit better yet again.  Curtis came out of the gate scoring 8 first quarter points including 2 3-pt buckets.  Wolverines were up  at the half, 25-24.  It was the play of Bacon Academy’s James Gardner and Terrell Gardner, as well as quality minutes from Luke Grimord that kept it close as they kept a close watch on 3-point shooting ninja CJ Mattson holding him to 1-4 from behind the arc,  though Mattson did score the last 5 points of the first half to send the Wolverines into the locker room up at the half.

The 2nd half was very much like the first.  Great defense from Mike Sims in the paint taking 2 hard charging fouls from Bacon in the 3rd.  CJ Mattson also was the recipient of a brutal full speed charge at half court from Grimord.  With Bacon Academy focusing on slowing down Mattson, they took their eyes off of Curtis who had a game high 22 points for the Wolverines.  Also, Chris Roddy did not play for the Wolverines due to sickness but the speedy Anthony Franklin got the nod in place of Roddy.

Gardner led all Bacon scorers with 11

The Wolverines did have a tough night from the free throw line hitting only 7/20.  Griswold defeats Bacon Academy, 49-45.

Not so lucky last night were the The Lady Wolverines. They had a rough night against the Lady Bobcats at Bacon Academy on Friday losing 56-20, not scoring more than 7 points (4th) in a quarter.
