The Wolverines this week have had 2 games, and both have been very decisive. Monday night, they defeated Parish Hill High School 61-29. CJ Mattson led the scoring brigade with 23 including going 6/8 from 3 point territory. Pharaoh Curtis had 22 against the Pirates, almost taking over the game himself with 12 in the 3rd quarter alone. Zach Mahok led the Pirates with 16.
Tuesday night was more of the same against the Putnam Clippers, winning 61-41 and although the Wolverines started to show a little “wear” in the 3rd quarter being outscored by 12-8, which is the only quarter that Putnam outscored Griswold. CJ Mattson was the games high scorer with 20 including 3/5 from behind the arc. Chris Roddy had 14, as well as going 4-4 from the free throw line.
Griswold moves their record to 12-4, and ranked 4th in CIAC State Division IV. Next up is perennial rival, St. Bernards. The Saints won the first contest this year at home, 67-53. Friday’s game is at Griswold and starts at 7 PM. The game will be aired live on SNSN Radio.
