Eastern District Major Crime Detectives investigate North Stonington assault; K9 Luka locates knife used in assault

​North Stonington, CT (March 28, 2018): On March 28, 2018 at approximately 3:33 p.m., Troopers from Troop E responded to a disturbance on Route 2 in North Stonington near the Bellissimo Grande Hotel.

​Upon arriving at the scene, Troopers determined that an altercation had occurred between two known male parties as they were driving in the same vehicle together. During the altercation, the suspect attacked the victim with a knife as the victim was driving. The victim was able to stop and exit the vehicle in order to get away from the suspect. Both the victim and suspect were located by Troopers at the scene and both were transported to Backus Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

​Tfc. Poplawski and his K9 partner Luka responded to the scene and conducted an evidence recovery search during which time K9 Luka located the knife involved in the altercation. ​ ​Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime also responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation. There is no threat to the public. This incident remains under investigation.
