Dual Car Rollover Accident In Plainfield – Black Hill Rd / Pickett Rd

On May 1, 2016 at approximately 3:21 A.M., members of the Plainfield Police Department, Central Village Fire Department, and American Legion Ambulance responded to a two car accident with a utility pole and wires down in the area of Black Hill Rd., Central Village, CT, and Pickett Rd., Central Village, CT. One vehicle was reported to be overturned in the road and another overturned in a nearby river.
Through investigation it was determined that Bryan Field, 19, of Lori Dr., Central Village, CT, was traveling eastbound on Black Hill Rd. when he lost control of his vehicle causing him to travel off the roadway strike a utility pole and overturn into a nearby river. The vehicle, a 1996 Ford F350 incurred extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
Through further investigation it was determined that Wayne Dowdell, 53, was traveling in westbound direction when he struck a piece of broken pole that was located on the roadway causing his vehicle to overturn onto its side. The second vehicle a 2006 Ford F150 incurred extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
Field was transported by ambulance to the Plainfield Backus ER for minor injuries; Dowdell was not injured during the incident and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The accident is under investigation and no further details are available.
