Driver Takes Off After Car vs Pole Accident

On March 5, 2020 at approximately 1:29PM, members of the Plainfield Police Department along with Atwood Hose Fire Department and American Legion Ambulance responded to the area of 151 Moosup Pond Road in Moosup, for a report of a single vehicle vs Pole crash.
While enroute, officers learned that the operator and passenger of the 2012 Ford F-250 color white, evaded the scene on foot, taking different directions. Upon arrival an officer ran into the woods searching for the operator while alerting other officers of the direction of travel. Officers then located the male in an open field in the area of Wauregan Feeds at the end of Depot Road. The male operator was identified as Shane Knox (DOB 8/21/1974) and was subsequently taken into custody. Knox stated that he was injured and was transported via American Legion Ambulance to the Plainfield Backus Emergency Care. After treatment Knox was transported back to the Plainfield Police Department for processing.
Knox was later processed and charged with the following;
Operating Under the Influence of alcohol and or Drugs
Operating Under Suspension
Evading the Scene of a Crash
Failure to Maintain Proper Lane
Knox was released on a $5000 bond and given an appearance date of June 1, 2020, at the Danielson Superior Court. This crash remains under investigation.
