Driver Of Stolen Truck Causes Fatal Auto Accident

Thursday evening on the Gold Star Highway in Groton at approximately 10:15pm, A pickup with with Vermont plates was traveling east towards the intersection with Kings Highway and a red light. Coming the other way was a Mitsubishi Eclipse which was just leaving a Walmart store. The driver of the pickup truck, Valery Labossiere was previously clocked doing 97 mph on the Gold Star Bridge was running from the police coming off the highway since the truck had been reported stolen out of Vermont as well as a rifle being visible on the rear seat. Labossiere ignored the red traffic light and collided with the occupants of the Mitsubishi Eclipse where the driver, 20 Year Old Taylor Wilkinson of Groton was sent to L&M hospital with non life threatening injuries. Her passenger, 22 Year Old Deion Pittman was air lifted to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar Helicopter when he later died. Neither Wilkinson or Pittman were using seat belts. Labossiere was arrested and held on $150,000 cash/surety bond.

The accident remains under investigation.
