According to Griswold First Selectman Todd Babbitt, the State of Connecticut DOT will start milling Route 12 in order to start a paving project. Crews are going to start Monday morning, May 18, 2020 in Lisbon at the junction of Route 138 and Route 12. The goal is to get to the other end of the Borough of Jewett City, the area of Tift St, or possibly as far as McKenna Ave by the end of Tuesday.
There is rain in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday which could complicate issues but light rain may even help the project by keeping dust at a lower level. Babbitt stated that if this is the case, he will know more first thing Monday morning and get information out as to what the next steps would be.
There will be No Parking signs placed through the borough of Jewett City alerting residents that there will be no parking from May 18 – May 20.
The State hopes to have the entire paving project finished by June 5, 2020.
