CONNECTICUT STATE POLICE-July 4th WEEKEND ENFORCEMENT STATS

Middletown, CT. (July 8, 2019): Connecticut State Troopers were patrolling highways and roads in Connecticut over this 2019 July 4th holiday period. During this enforcement period Troopers utilized both traditional and non-traditional patrol cars. The enforcement period started at 7:00 p.m. 07-03-2019 and ran through 11:59 p.m. on 07-07-2019. Troopers focused on drunken driving violations, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers and speeding. Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols were also in place over the entire weekend. These State Police stats cover the time period starting at 7:00 p.m., on July 03, 2019 to July 07, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.: Calls for Service: 7,184 SPEEDING: 652 SEATBELT: 75 TOTAL VIOLATIONS: 1859 (to include unsafe lane change, Following Too Closely, Cell Phone, Texting, Speeding, Seatbelt, etc.) DUI ARREST: 50 ACCIDENTS: Investigated: 248 With injury: 51 Fatal: 0 accidents resulting in a fatality 2018 July 4th Weekend Enforcement Stats: 2018 stats cover the time period starting at 12:01a.m., July 3rd to 11:59 p.m., July 8th Speeding: 995 Seatbelt: 124 Total Violations: 2,530 (These include unsafe lane change, following too closely, cellphone/texting, etc.) DUI Arrests: 38 Crashes: Investigated: 489 With injury: 62 Fatal: 3 accident resulting in a fatality
