Connecticut State Police Detectives Arrest Marlborough Man following Arson Investigation

Marlborough, CT (August 28, 2018): Connecticut State Police detectives arrest Marlborough man
following arson investigation.
On Monday, August 27, 2018 at approximately 3:00AM, Troopers from Troop K-Colchester were
dispatched to 242 West Road in Marlborough for a reported structure fire. Once Troopers and fire personnel
arrived on scene, Marlborough Fire Marshal requested the response of the State Police Fire and Explosion
Investigations Unit (FEIU).
Upon the arrival of detectives assigned to the FIEU, they requested the assistance of Eastern District
Major Crimes (EDMC). Detectives assigned to both FEIU and EDMC- Troop K and Troop C worked
collaboratively together taking statements, collecting evidence, and tracking down leads.
A person of interest was developed and he was identified as being Reid Keener (D.O.B. 06-28-1991) of
Marlborough. Keener was located at approximately 2:00 PM in a nearby lake with the assistance of the State
Police Aviation Unit (Trooper 2), State Police K9 Unit, as well as trooper from Troop K and the Marlborough
Fire Dept.
Once located, Keener was transported to Hartford Hospital for evaluation. Keener was discharged from
Hartford Hospital into State Police custody as there was an active arrest warrant for his arrest. Keener was held
on a $25,000.00 bond on the arrest warrant from an unrelated incident. As a result of this investigation, an arrest
warrant was drafted and approved by Hartford Superior Court, for the following charges: Arson, First Degree;
Reckless Endangerment, First Degree; and Criminal Mischief, First Degree. Keener’s bond was set at
$500,000.00 and he was presented before Manchester Superior Court on August 28, 2018.
