Plainfield, CT – The Plainfield Democratic Town Committee (DTC) is pleased to announce Congressman Joe Courtney’s support for Cathy Tendrich, the endorsed candidate for Plainfield First Selectman.

Courtney is the U.S. Congressman serving Connecticut’s Second District, of which Plainfield is part. Tendrich had the honor of speaking with Courtney during extended conversations at the VJ Day Parade in Moosup on Sunday, Aug. 13 and again at the 2017 Brooklyn Fair.

Following the VJ Day Parade, Courtney offered his support, saying: “In speaking with Cathy during the VJ Day Parade, it is evident that she is passionate about the Town of Plainfield and its people. Local government officials have the ability to directly and profoundly impact their communities, and Cathy’s experience as a successful business owner will be an asset in the role of First Selectman. I believe Cathy will be a strong advocate for Plainfield and support her candidacy for First Selectman. I look forward to working with her in the future.”

Tendrich was endorsed by the Plainfield DTC on July 19, 2017. She is a local entrepreneur and community leader who has called Plainfield her home for nearly 40 years. She has more than 26 years of business experience in town, including previous ownership of Video Galaxy and current proprietorship of Kid & Kaboodle Childcare – a trusted family resource for 16 years and counting. Tendrich also serves as vice chairman for the Plainfield Board of Finance. In addition, she was a founding member and past president of the Plainfield Business Association (PBA). Through the PBA, she helped initiate the Pride in Plainfield Day, a day to unite the local business community with area residents in celebration, and the Flag Campaign, a fundraising effort funded by private businesses to proudly display the American Flag along our downtown streets. In 2014 and 2015, Tendrich also organized a job fair in town, which provided job seekers an opportunity to network with local businesses and large regional employers.

As Plainfield First Selectman, Tendrich plans to develop the local economy, promote financial stability, increase educational and career opportunities, support public safety efforts, and inspire a greater sense of community throughout all four of Plainfield’s villages.
