With the Plainfield Police Department slated to commission their newest K-9 officer after completion of the 11-week state police course, the Colchester police department has already welcomed Officer Josie on the force. Josie completed her 11-week training course on July 8 and several days later, she was already sniffing out marijuana on Day Pond Road.
Josie is a 2-year-old black Labrador retriever and in addition to detecting marijuana, Josie will be able to detect odors of crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, steroids and methamphetamine’s.
Josie initially failed her training to be a seeing eye dog due to her high energy which will make her great as a drug-sniffer.
Josie will be a great fit for the Colchester Police Department as she has a friendly disposition.
