Colchester, CT. (April 9, 2016): Troopers from Troop K-Colchester arrested one person for possession of narcotics, and DUI following a motor vehicle traffic stop on Route 2 near exit 18 in Colchester. On April 9, 2016 at approximately 2:10 a.m., troopers were conducting motor vehicle enforcement while on proactive patrol, when they observed a gray Volvo station wagon traveling westbound on Route 2 failing to stay within its lane (swerving). As the vehicle passed the exit 18 on-ramp troopers conducted a traffic stop based on the observed motor vehicle violation. Upon stopping the vehicle troopers spoke with the operator, Daryl McNeill. While speaking with McNeill, troopers suspected that he was operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs. Troopers conducted a field sobriety test which McNeill was unable to perform. McNeill was taken into to custody, and a search of his vehicle was conducted. Troopers located suspected narcotics, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Daryl McNeill was taken into custody and transported to Troop K where he was processed and released on bond pending his court date. Troopers seized 38 pills of suspected Oxycodone, approximately 3.6 ounces of suspected Marijuana, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials indicative of narcotic and Marijuana sales, and over $750.00 cash. All items seized were transported to Troop K where they were held as evidence.
