Eric Christensen was, then he wasn’t, then he came back for a minute… now he’s back…  Wait, what?

Christensen, the long time Griswold Finance Director left to teach accounting at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic opening the door for Julie Marcotte to become the successor to Christensen.

Marcotte, made some waves within the town earlier this year by leaving her post for another position with a private company, right in the middle of this year’s town budget negotiations.  Christensen, who was not teaching a the time due to the University being closed due to the pandemic was able to slide right back into the town’s finance position as a consultant.  Christensen re-vamped the budgets for the town and the school systems to help both sides understand what needed to be adjusted.  Less then 2 weeks after Christensen came back as a consultant, the town had a budget that was voted and passed by the Board of Finance.

Last week, at a Board of Selectman special meeting, the Board went into executive session on July 28, 2020 and all authorized a contract between the town of Griswold and Eric Christensen and the old… interim… new Finance Director.

Welcome back, Eric.
