Brehler Leads Lady Wolverines to Victory In Last Regular Season Game of 2020-2021 Season

The last regular season game for the Lady Wolverine Basketball team was played Friday evening taking on the Tigers of Tourtellotte. This is the 2nd match up between the 2 teams of the season with the Wolverines winning handily 53-26 at Griswold on January 25th. The Tigers came out of the box a lot more aggressive than the first game between the two this year. Last game the Wolverines were completely dominant, leading at the half 26-10. This time, it was the Tigers with a dominant first half, going into the locker room leading Griswold, 27-14 at the half on Friday night.
Griswold regrouped at the half and came out firing. The Wolverines went on a 12-2 run to start the 3rd highlighted by a couple of 3-point baskets by Hanna Clark. The Wolverines closed the gap to 6 by the end of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th was much like the 3rd as the Tigers went cold from the floor and the Wolverines started the 4th on another run, this time a 10-0 run, this time it was Hailey Eliasson with a couple 3-point shots that tied the game which set the stage for a bucket from Mandy Brehler to put the ladies ahead, 35-33.
Griswold never relinquished the lead at this point, winning 44-37. The Wolverines held Tourtellotte to just 10 points in the 2nd half. Leading Griswold was Mandy Brehler with 12, Lindsey VanLanen with 9, Hailey Eliasson with 7, Hannah Clark 6, Abby Wing 5, Kaylee Gagnon 3, and Kailey Ego 2.
Next up for the Wolverines will be the ECC tournament, with date, time and location to be determined. Wolverines end the regular, 9-11. The Tigers end the season at 5-15.
