***BREAKING*** State Police Detectives investigate Jewett City Attempted armed robbery

Troopers from Troop E-Montville and Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime (EDMC) are investigating an attempted armed robbery reported at Chucky’s Mobil at 7 Main St, Jewett City.

On 4/12/2016 at approximately 3:08 a.m. Troopers responded to Chucky’s Mobil at 7 Main Street, Jewett City for a reported attempted armed robbery.

Upon arrival troopers spoke with the store clerk who stated a lone male suspect entered the Mobil and attempted to rob it. Troopers searched the area, but did not locate the male suspect. Eastern District Major Crime (EDMC) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

The suspect was described as a white male, approx. 5’7” with a stocky build, and blondish- brown facial hair. The male suspect was last seen wearing two hooded sweatshirts, a blue hooded sweatshirt under a brown hooded sweatshirt. The brown hooded sweatshirt had a picture of a tree or “Timberland” emblem in the center. The male suspect was also wearing a maroon colored face mask with holes in it.

The male suspect first displayed a black semi-automatic handgun, and then he displayed a knife. The male suspect left the store on foot and proceeded towards the Rite Aid parking lot.
