Wednesday morning it was discovered that Saint Catherine Church in Preston was broken into anywhere from 11:30am Christmas Day til 9:30am Wednesday morning. The list of damage is fairly extensive such as the front door being shattered, the door to the Sacristy, which is a room in a church where a priest prepares for a service, and where vestments and other things used in worship are kept, The Easter Candle and two pedestals, and the statue of Saint Catherine was smashed. In addition to this, the cross from top the tabernacle was stolen and the icon of the Blessed Trinity was torn off the wall.  The perpetrators rummaged through most of the closets in the church and the church hall.

In a letter from Father Ted Tumicki he states that the church is fully cooperating with ongoing investigations from their insurance company as well as Connecticut State Police.
