Better Val-U Shoplifter Apprehended

On January 22, 2016 at approximately 4:31PM, members of the Plainfield Police Department were dispatched to the Better Value Supermarket located at 657 Norwich Rd., Plainfield, CT, for a report of a male shoplifting.
The accused was identified as Mark Parker (W/M DOB 01/29/1962) of Jewett City. The Better Value’s Loss Prevention Agent was able to recover one item from the meat department that Parker turned over before Officers arrived. Parker stated that the item was all he took from the store without paying and denied concealing any other items. While the investigating Officer conducted a pat down of Parker, it was discovered that he had 2 more items from the meat department hiding inside his pants. Parker was placed under arrest and while conducting a search, it was discovered that he was concealing 4 cigarettes that contained Marijuana and a small plastic container, containing Crack Cocaine inside his pockets.
Mark Parker was later processed and charged with Possession of Narcotics (C.G.S. 21a-279(a)), Possession of Less than ½ ounce of Marijuana, 1st Offense (C.G.S. 21a-179a1st), and Larceny 6th Degree (C.G.S. 53a-125b). Parker was later released on a $10,000 Non-Surety Bond with a scheduled court date of February 8, 2016, at Danielson Superior Court GA11
