Anonymous Tip Leads To Narcotic Arrest in Plainfield

On August 26, 2019 a concerned citizen contacted the Plainfield Police Department regarding narcotic related information. The citizen stated that an Asian male operating a black Lexus SUV with a New York registration plate was located in Plainfield and currently in possession of a large quantity of narcotics. The vehicle was reported to be located in the area of Norwich Road at Cemetery Road.

Officers subsequently responded to the area and viewed the described vehicle exiting a local business. The vehicle subsequently traveled south on Norwich Road at which point it crossed over the white fog line traveling out of the lane. It was also observed that the operator had multiple items hanging from his rear-view mirror obstructing his vision contributing to the erratic driving. A motor vehicle stop was subsequently conducted in the McDonalds parking at approximately 4:34 PM.

Upon approach of the vehicle two males matching the description given were located and later identified as Ke Wenxiang, 35, and Cao Yong, 29, both of New York. An investigation was conducted in which Plainfield Police Departments Narcotics K-9 Vail, a narcotic sniffing Labrador was deployed and alerted on vehicle. A search of the vehicle where Officers located two duffle bags in the rear of the vehicle filled with a combined total of 27.15 Lbs. of prepackaged marijuana. In addition,Wenxiang was found in possession of a white powdered substance that was identified by Wenxiang as Ketamine in addition to over $18,000.00 of currency. All of which was seized as evidence.Both males were subsequently placed under arrest and transported back to the Plainfield Police Department to be processed.

Once at the Plainfield Police Department with the assistance of a Yale New Haven Officer who speaks fluent Mandarin both Wenxiang and Yong were processed. Wenxiang was charged with Failure to Maintain Proper Lane, Traveling with an Obstructed View, Possession of Narcotics and Possession of over 1 Kilogram of Marijuana with Intent to Sell and held on a $50,000.00 bond. Yong was charged with Possession of over 1 Kilogram of Marijuana with Intent to Sell and held on a $50,000.00 bond. Both individuals were unable to secure bond and are scheduled to appear at the State of Connecticut Superior Court located in Danielson, Connecticut on August 27, 2019.
