Both the Griswold boys and girls were in action on Friday night, both taking on St Bernards. The boys played at home while the girls were on the road. The girls were on a 3 game winning streak while the boys were coming off a loss against Plainfield earlier in the week. The game never got away from either team and remained close throughout. St B’s led at the half 33-31 as well as leading late in the game 66-63 with only 1:29 left in the 4th quarter. The Wolverines fought and stayed with the Saints and closed the gap to one, 79-78. With 10 seconds left in overtime, Max Gregory hit a 15 footer for to give the Wolverines a 80-79 win at home. Gregory had a game high 20 points while Mason Rubino had 17 in the win
The evening wasn’t as kind to the Lady Wolverines as they were dominated on both ends of the court on Friday by St. B’s. Griswold came out of the gate firing as Skylar Hanley hit a 3 pointer 2 minutes into the game to tie the score at 3, but that was it. It was all St. Bernards from that point on. As a matter of fact, that was the only field goal the Lady Wolverines could muster in the entire first half. The Wolverines went scoreless for 16 minutes which was the remainder of the first and complete 2nd quarter. The 2nd half showed a little spark for the Wolverines as Hanley again scored the first 3 points. After a short run to get the Wolverines within 6, it was lights out as the Lady Saints completely over matched Griswold in every way. Caitlyn Dittman led the Lady Saints with 20 points, St B’s wins 36-18
