Members of the local fire departments were at a training on Tuesday night at your Jewett City Fire Department for a serious training. Members of the Departments learned about human trafficking which has become a more serious problem every year.
In this training Members learned about federal and state laws, what trafficking of humans really is, how to recognize a possible victim, and finally how to help them. Within cases that have taken place in Connecticut, EMS personnel have been the one that has recognized the victim and reported it. The course is a mandate that has been put in place under the new Connecticut Public Acts along with Memtal Health training.
Departments in attendance were Jewett City Fire Department, Griswold Fire Department, Lisbon Fire Department, and Baltic Fire Department. More trainings are being conducted in the future.
