Tuesday was another day that saw COVID 19 infections rise, this time to over 4% for the day. 538 new infections were recorded in the state out of 13,039 tests being reported marking a 4.12% infection rate. 22 residents were hospitalized bringing the total to 292 in the state, which broken down is just under 2 residents per town (1.73) in Connecticut.
Hartford County was once again the hardest hit for the day with half of the (11) new daily hospitalizations. New London County remained unchanged with 24 people in the hospital with COVID 19 and Windham County has 4.
At the latest Griswold Board of Selectman meeting on Tuesday, First Selectman Todd Babbitt did mention that 11 Griswold residents tested positive for the virus over the weekend. Those who need to know have been notified, and contact tracers have been in contact with them. Although Uncas Health has shared a list with Babbitt, it only shows age and where they live, it does not list their names due to HIPPA regulations.
Even though numbers are on the rise, this coming weekends event, Spooktopia, which is going to be a “drive through” event and not considered a public gathering, which is the main reason why the event is still scheduled to happen.
