Suspect Captured by State Police After Going For A Getaway “Swim”

On May 8, 2018, the Brooklyn Resident Trooper was conducting an investigation into a matter that occurred in the town of Brooklyn. Troopers discovered that an active violation of probation arrest warrant existed for the accused party, 22 year oldJordan Lanphear and attempted to locate him at an address on Spring Street in Danielson. As Trooper’s approached the house , Lanphear took off on foot running across Mechanic Street and onto Commerce Avenue to a wooded area near the Five Mile River. The Brooklyn Resident Trooper, the Killingly Resident Trooper, uniform patrol troopers from Troop D, QLTF Troopers and two K9’s searched the area for about 2 1/2 hours. Both K9‘s, on separate occasions, tracked to the edge of the Five Mile River where footprints could be seen. Troopers concluded that Lanphear had entered the water and possibly swam across to facilitate his escape. The Brooklyn Resident Trooper assembled the entire evening shift at a staging area in Brooklyn with the intent of checking two possible addresses for Lanphear. A check of the first address in Brooklyn revealed that Lanphear had arrived at the house earlier soaking wet, wearing nothing but shorts. Troopers then surrounded an apartment in Quebec Square and ultimately located Lanphear hiding inside a closet underneath a bunch of clothing. Lanphear was placed under arrest for violation of probation and additionally charged with interfering with a police officer. It was learned from the Lanphear that he ran into the river where he floated down stream (south) ultimately crossing the river, running across Maple Street, re-entering the river near Catherine Avenue and swimming across to South Main Street in Brooklyn. It was also learned that two females facilitated his escape as well as lying to Trooper’s about his whereabouts. The Brooklyn Resident Trooper arrested a 16-year-old juvenile at the Spring Street address and charged her with interfering with police. The Brooklyn Resident Trooper also arrested a female at the Quebec Square address where Lanphear was found hiding and charged her with interfering with a police officer as well. 35 Year old Glenda Lugo was arrested and charged with interfering with a police officer, the female juvenile’s name is being withheld because she is a juvenile.  Lanphear was held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond and Lugo was held on a $5,000 cash/surety bond, both will appear in Danielson Superior court on May 9, 2018.
