Statewide Narcotics Task Force arrest 2 in narcotics and firearms seizure

(July 26, 2016): State police detectives and police officers assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force – East office, New London Police Department, and Norwich Police Department arrested two men, and seized narcotics and a handgun. The Statewide Narcotics Task Force – East office is comprised of detectives from the State Police, police officers from Groton City Police Department, New London Police Department, Norwich Police Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

On July 26, 2016 the Statewide Narcotics Task Force (SNTF), New London Police Department, and Norwich Police Department served multiple arrest warrants for the sale of narcotics, and criminal possession of a firearm following a vehicle pursuit through the streets of New London late this morning.

SNTF held an active arrest warrant, issued by the superior court, for Christian Santos. SNTF attempted to serve that arrest warrant on Christian Santos, when he fled from detectives in his vehicle and refused to stop. Santos eventually pulled his vehicle over and surrendered to uniformed New London police officers. Santos was taken into custody and transported to New London Police Department where he was held on bond pending his court date.

Information from Santosarrest led to the search of a residence in Norwich in which SNTF Detectives located a .45 Caliber handgun. While on scene conducting the search a known narcotics dealer, Giovanni Camacho, who is also the brother of Santos, arrived at the residence. Camacho was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, marijuana, narcotic opioid prescription pills, and approximately $2,000.00 in cash. Camacho arrived at the Norwich residence on a motorcycle with a license plate that belonged to another motorcycle. The motorcycle was also uninsured.

Camacho was taken into custody and transported to Troop E – Montville where he was fingerprinted, photographed and held on bond pending his court date.
